Royal Horticultural Society Visit
Wednesday 29 November 2017Today Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge visited Robin Hood Primary School to celebrate ten years of the Royal Horticultural Society's Campaign for School Gardening.
Robin Hood Primary School joined the campaign in 2010. Led by Forest School teacher Sally Spires, the school is now a certified RHS five star gardening school, having achieved a level 5 as part of the campaign's reward scheme.
The Duchess took part in some small gardening activities with pupils to see what day to day life in the school garden is like. She joined a group of pupils to plant winter bulbs in the sensory garden which will bloom in spring and spent some time whittling sticks to make into small bug homes.
The visit ended with cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the Campaign for School Gardening's anniversary. There were short speeches from the RHS Director of Education Ruth Evans, Headteacher Pete Boulton and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge. The whole school were present to witness the occasion waving flags enthusiastically.
Gardening and outdoor learning has become an essential part of the curriculum at Robin Hood Primary and Nursery School. The development of creative and engaging outdoor learning environment has enhanced our thematic classroom based learning. Commited staff and enthusiastic children have benifitted from the invaluable skills of collaboration and teamwork. Our outdoor learning approach and gardening opportunities support children's development, enabling them to develop their confidence and resilience in a sociable and stimulating environment.

Malden and Coombe Cluster Swimming Gala
Thursday 25 May 201712 children took part in our first Malden and Coombe Cluster Swimming Gala, which was held at the Malden Centre in New Malden.
They enjoyed racing against children from other local schools within our cluster, competing in both an individual race and mixed relay. The children were excellent and throughly enjoyed themselves. They were rewarded with an ice lolly and ClassDojo points for all their efforts.
A big thank you to both the Malden Centre and Malden and Coombe School staff who helped organise the event. It was a great success!
