Year 3 - Egyptian Day
Year 3 came into school dressed as Egyptians to find that the classroom has transformed into the "Valley of the Kings".
They explored the "Tomb of Tutankhamun" and handled artefacts that he was buried with, such as magical potions and ointments. The class had the opportunity to learn more about Tutankhamun's mysterious death, using different pieces of evidence to figure out the cause of death. We also explored Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife and enjoyed holding a competition to see who could build the strongest pyramid out of straws and blutac! The day ended with the chidren baking their own Egyptian styled cakes, playing games and enjoying the Egyptian feast they had prepared.
