Year 3 had a fantastic morning, with some pupils from Rokeby School. The boys shared a presentation with us about an overseas football tournament they took part in.
They also ran a session on improvisation and Year 3 had fun giving it a go! Afterwards there was time to do some quiet reading, followed by a game that taught Year 3 how to think strategically about their next move. All in all a great morning of fun and learning was had by everyone involved.
On Friday 18th June Mrs Smith and four pupils attended the opening of Sherwood Grange Care Home, Kingston Vale.
The home was officially opened by Rowena Bass, Deputy Mayor of Kingston who is also one of our school governors. The children enjoyed time with some of the new residents and also enjoyed some light refreshments. Robin Hood pupils were responsible for naming three of the suites at the home, Beverley Brook, Cambridge and Sherwood. The school intends to have regular links with Sherwood Grange in the future.
The Nursery invited New Malden Fire Station to come and visit with their Fire Engine, as our current topic of study is "People who help us".
The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and we all got the opportunity to sit in the Fire Engine, as well as being able to hold and activate the fire hose.
The school choir had a fantastic time at The Rose Theatre taking part in the Junior Singing Festival.
They performed individual pieces, as well as mass pieces with a variety of other schools. The children did an amazing job and we are very proud of all those who took part.
- School Trips
As part of Arts Fortnight, we welcomed back Antony Glenn who delivers a unique experience for his audiences by using their energy to bring plays to life.
He uses a mixture of Shakespearean speeches, audience participation and improvisation to bring the stories together.
Some of the activities they were involved in throughtout the day included: 'a shield wall drill', seeing a weapons display, investigating replica artefacts (drinking horns, household objects, furs, antlers etc), acting out plays/storytelling and a Viking funeral.
